The first top of the year! Gaiskogel 2820m in the beginning of November. There is a really nice line going to the east, which I will have to ski at some point. In November there was too little snow and last time there was too much. But someday, someday…

Now thinking there were many reasons for this avalanche. Critical amount of new snow (60-80cm), perfect steepness (37-42 degrees), no anchors (only slippery rock) and the bottom of the snow pack had already started to turn into big, edgy cristals - especially between the rocks.

Thougt the dangers might have been hard to see, they were obvious. Always do the compressions tests, think about what could happen and keep your head cool. Too much stress for the perfect run causes stupid risks (though the way down was awesome).
